I culture MSC from human  bone marrow, or adipose tissue. I use D-MEM with low glucose addtioned with platelet lysate 10% and heparin 2U/ml

Alfa-Mem may also be good but check the glucose concentration, when I used  D-MEM with high glucose it doesn't work  and MSCs were suffering and did not grow1

HI! we are using MEM supplemented with 20% FCS and culture MSCs in 3% O2.

For my primery cultures I am using  DMEM with low glucose/penicilin/strp/fungizone/10%FBS

I always used DMEM with 10% FBS and it worked very well

We culture human adipose tissue-derived stem cells in DMEM-F12 with 5% human serum.

HI,  we use DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS (SIGMA), 1% (v/v) 200 mM L-glutamine (Gibco), and antibiotics (6.74 U/ml Penicillin-Streptomycin, 0.2 μg/ml Fungizone) (PAA) at 37oC with 5% CO2 in a humidified incubator.

We do not go above 10% serum as this supports fibroblastic differentiation and always make sure the medium doesn't come with ascorbic acid or other additives that would differentiate your cells. When we are testing for differentiation we are using specific induction media for controls.

Hi, we used DMEM/F12 + 10%FBS

DMEM, 10% FBS, 1% L-glut, 1% NEAA, 1% pen/strep

I used Lonza human MSCs and Lonza medium. I tried to change Lonza medium into high glucose-DMEM, 10% FBS, 1% NEAA, 1% pen/strep, but it didn't work. Based on Paola Iudicone's experience, I could try low glucose DMEM.

We use DMEM-GlutaMAX from Life Technologies+10%FBS+pen/strep for ADSCs

I used  human bone marrow MSCs from patients undergoing to hip replacement surgery and Life Technologies DMEM-Low Glucose with 10% FBS (heat inact.cat 10500-064)

If you culture MSCs _ derived from murine, in my opinion, you should use the DMEM/F12 medium add 10% FBS, 1% Antibiotic-Antimycotic.

 Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) with 10 mM HEPES (2.5 g L-1 and 10 % (v/v) fetal bovine serum.

We culture human MSCs from bone marrow in DMEM + either 10%FBS or 10% human autologous serum + penicillin streptomycin.

For rat MSCs we use Dullbecco ’ s modified Eagle ’ s medium with high glucose (DMEM), glutamax 15 μL/mL, 10% fetal calf serum (FCS) and primocin 2 μL/mL

You can use Low glucose DMEM , 10% FBS or autologous serum, 1% glutamine or Glutamax (GIBCO) and 1% antibiotic like Pen/Strep

We culture human MSCs obatained from bone marrow, adipose tissue  and umbilical cord blood for basic and pré - clinical experiments, with Low glucose DMEM , 10% FBS, with good results

best media is GMEM, 10% qualified MSC FBS OR human serum, 1% penicillin streptomycin, 1-5 ng/ml of bFGf ,, for serum free media you can use mesenclut serum free media

try to use DMEM-Low Glucose with 10% FBS and 1% antibiotic (sometimes the murine MSC are susceptible to Pen/Strep so use Gentamicin instead). In case of  human MSC it is better to culture them in the special formulated media. The cells will have better proliferation capacity and do not become senescent so fast.

DMEM medium with 10% FBS and antibiotics (pen/strep)is the medium I almost always use for BMSCs.good luck 

I suggest you to use MesenCult- MSC Basal Medium (Mouse) of Stemcell Technologies (Canada)...supplemented with their Stimulatory Supplements..Find it in this link...

For human MSC (and also for the immortalized cell line of primary human MSC, called SCP-1) I use DMEM-Glutamax with 1% Pen/Strep, and 10%FBS, and they grow just fine!

I culture mouse bone-marrow derived MSC's in IMDM + 20% FBS + 1% Penstrep--works well!

i found cells in  Stem cell Technologies medium is cells are growing slow in compression than alpha MEM.but cells move faster in senescence.

I culture with Opti-MEM with Glutamax (GIBCO) with (1-10%) heat inactivated serum (Atlas Biologicals, Fort Collins, CO), pH 7.4 (+/- Pen/Strep) (base medium). Works fine and keeps cells from differentiating. If you want cells to proliferate add PDGF-BB (R&D Systems), if you want induction add appropriate recombinant inductive factors, i.e., BMP-2, VEGF, FGF-alpha, TGF-beta, basic-FGF, etc. to base medium.

hUC-MSCs grows well in low glucose DMEM medium than high glucose DMEM medium. can any body help me to understand reason?

More ROS is generated when MSCs are cultured in high glucose DMEM than in low glucose DMEM. High ROS may cause cell death or senescence so may cause slow growth.
