I am looking into ways to examine B cell activation after antigen recognition through the B cell receptor. Going through literature, I saw that antigen recognition in this pathway would increase cytosolic IP3 levels. Are there any other pathways in B cells that cause an increase in this substance, or are raising IP3 levels in these cells only indicative of recognition through the BCR?

Any signaling pathway that can activate phospholipase C activity will induce an increase in IP3 levels and BCR signaling is not the only signaling pathway that can activate PLC so I would say that it is not specific enough.
Chemokine receptors and other Gaq-coupled receptors, among others, can involve activation of PLC, increase IP3 levels and induce calcium mobilization.
