Build a mask is no easy step, so it depends on your conditions to build them. If you have some laboratory with expertise to do it, you can check the papers and basically replicate any one you want. If you don't have access to expertise in build these masks, so alternatives must be considered.

It mostly depends on the characterisation techniques that follow after making the device. It is advisable to see the shortcomings you face while performing IV, EQE, etc., and design a mask that satisfies your needs. There are basic images available in papers. Follow any of them and modify them after finding the challenges you find using them.
Sputtering or evaporation method is the optimal choice for this method. If your laboratory has such equipment, it is very suitable for this research direction. Wish you have a good research direction.
