I can not understand the reason of "non indexing" of any good journal.
If you apply, you can get indexing of at least 15-30 indexing agencies within 2 months, provided that your journal should have ISSN number, Online availability etc.
So, at first get ISSN for your journal by sending online application to the organisation given responsibility to allot ISSN in your country.
You may notice the list of indexing agencies of any online good journal of your subject and apply through the journal suggestion link at their site.
Undoubtedly, you are a good researcher. Always one must try to publish his/her research in a good journal only. Publication of a paper in a predatory or non-indexed journal is simply a waste.
According to my idea : This does not mean non-ISI-listed journals are not "honourable". ...Sometimes you only want your research be seen and your ideas known by others , therefore the value of your research would not judge by the journal!
Not at all. Did you know that there are weak researches with a high h-index, and these were achieved through the special relations between the authors of these researches and the mention of their researches reciprocally. All this is with the loss of honesty and scientific credibility.
This can be considered as lack of awareness. Now as you are fully aware so publish your work in reputed journals so that you can get value of your published work.
Well, the idea of publication is to claim , good work/intellectual contribution/effort/capability of the lab or group or university /Funding and marketing of the sponsorship etc etc
I am at once coming to the conclusion - also in view of the ongoing discussion of this problem in RG - that the distinction between "indexed" and "non-indext" leads to false conclusions. Above all, self-confidence as a researcher suffers and in the same way the self-claim to do good, methodically controlled research work. Texts that are not sufficient for publication, and texts that are ready for publication in every journal, today young researchers must learn intensively themselves, so that each judgement of an expert can oppose their own judgement. I have experienced it more than once (also with book publications) that experts specifically criticized something. And in some - not all - cases - they were right. So one should, if possible, not make oneself dependent on magazines. It's better to write a good book, if possible.
Will I consider myself as "not good researcher" if I published in a non-indexed journal?
I recalled someone shared this before - "let others judge your worth based on your quality of work e.g. article published etc. rather than from which journal you'd published your article in." Also heard this before - "don't let others judge your worth based on which university you were from but rather let them judge your worth based on your work quality."
Not at all. Although one should always publish his researches in highly indexed journals. Sometimes, researchers, due to the constraints of time, they look for domestic journals just to meet the deadline for their promotion requirements. If I were them, I should have looked for journals of high reputation even if my promotion has been much delayed.
publishing in a good journal cannot guarantee your being a professional researcher. some novice researchers add a lot to others' knowledge but they are not aware of high-indexed journals conditions. so don't judge a book by its cover. best
"Indexed" or "Non-Indexed' - does not matter. Only the quality of information should be good. And you - as an Author are the best to evaluate the quality.
I too strongly oppose the statement. Publication in standard journal involves many parameters such as Reviewer/ referees irrelevant comments ( some times), publication fees are also very high for some Journals and time taking for publication also lengthy . Above the all hype was created for publication in high impact factor Journals.
The content of the research article place significance. It is the quality that matters -not the journal in which the same is published.
Nevertheless, academically it has an impact on performance index- where the point for publication in indexed journal is considered. Probably you will not be eligible to get point for such publication. Further your article may not reach to many researchers who only refer indexed journal.
I have a suggestion. Your article which has already been published it can be submitted in the RG platform for peers to review.
In my opinion, when I am just a beginner in my research subject, maybe it is acceptable for the publications in some low inpact journals. However, with the time goes, I will try my best to do some more important work to be published on high impact journals, thus, there will be more and more communications with the researchers in the same subject.
It is not professionally a good idea to publish in non-indexed journals. If a research work is good, why would anybody want to publish it in any predatory journal or other non-indexed journals. What is the use of publishing in some rubbish journal that will not give you any credibility? I am not saying every non-indexed journal would necessarily be poor but if some researcher has constantly published in poor, predatory journals there is no way he/she can be considered a good researcher.
Don't you think that there are lots of good quality data and research results published in ''non- indexed'' journals? I have come across several, and I don't know why the researchers decided to publish them there!
Furthermore, depending on the fields and especially in case of scarcity of information, if you find one in a non- indexed journal, what do you do about it? and how do you judge grey literature?
Perelman published its proof of the Pointcaré conjecture on arxiv which got him the Field medal and the Millenium prize (which he both refused). Don't feel bad about where you publish as long as it's honest work!
Not necessarily. However, researchers must ensure the wide visibility of their studies. Therefore, it would be prudent to target highly indexed journals. Every researcher must also publicize their studies by depositing them at trusted online databases and libraries.
Publication in indexed journal may get wide circulation and easy access for other researchers. However, one may publish in other journals also and disseminate information through various means like RG and other platforms.
Not really in my opinion. The most important thing is that your publication is out there and the research community will benefit from your research output.
I agree with Felix Nwafor. The level of appreciation of your work is reflected through the degree of contributions you make by publishing in refereed quality journals and conferences.
Not at all . A researcher is a person who looks for solutions and not who published in a journal with IF. A journal with IF, 7 or 8 years before, it was an indexed journal without IF. So you are a researcher whatever the journal of your publication
Mistakes are always in papers regard less in indexed or not journals. Important thing is making impact if publication information is consumed by the stakeholders.
I would like to comment that The First Thing a Researcher must do to Try to Publish The Paper or Article in a Journal with Good Impact Factor IF and High Index. The Publication in Journal with Good Impact Factor IF and High Index is easily to be Cited Referenced and Valuable. It would give you Benefit in Present and in Future. It is more accessible and valuable for the Community and making Impact by providing High Quality Research and Information. It is being Peer Reviewed and Assesed before being Published by Peers or Scholars. On the other hand Predatory Journals or Journals with No Impact Factor IF Or No High Index they would Publish and accept all the Research and Papers for Publication. Those Publications would not be Cited or Referenced in 100 Years after being Published. Those Publications would be only Number Game for the Researcher. I would not say it is useless to Publish in Journals with No Impact Factor or Index because some Institutes considers Numbers of Publication also. I would Recommend Better to Publish Papers in Journal with Good Impact Factor IF and High Index which is easily to be Cited Referenced and Valuable. Most of the Publications which can not be Cited in No Impact Factor Journals or Not Indexed would be shared on Platforms like Research Gate RG so People can read and Cite or Referenced if they like it.
I think no, though that it is preferred to publish in indexed journals, however, the quality of your work is the one who expresses you as a good or not good researcher.
If you want to share your research with colleagues (no matter for what purpose), then try to publish it in an indexed journal. Even the most unproven and biased peer review is a reason to improve your arguments. If you persuaded the reviewer, then you will convince readers. However, if you just want to publish - do it in any accessible journal. There is another way - find like-minded people and make own indexable journal (I know at least two such cases). Unfortunately, it will take a long time. As a result, you will find out are you a good scientist or not. Anyway, never give up!
Please try to publish in an open access journal do not hesitate saying it is not indexed. Try to publish in better journal if not, any open access journal is fine in my view.
I have seen articles published in lower ranked journals are also well cited by article published in better ranked journals. Please do not worry. Publication is just for disseminate the knowledge.
Personally, I do not think so. But it is how, the quality of paper is judged by: whether it is published in an indexed journal or not? or whether it is journal with high Impact factor or not? Normally, what I believe is, indexed journal have rigorous peer review process. Because of which they are superior than the non indexed journal. So, it is always advisable to publish in them. And also look for journals with high Impact factor. There are people in Nepal, who think that getting published in a PubMed Indexed journal is the matter of pride and rest are nothing...While, I believe PubMed is merely one of those many databases to gain access to articles related to medical field. While, there are many renowned databases, such as CINAHL, EMBASE, EBSOHOST, AgeLine, Sciencedirect, SCOPUS, which people are unaware of....Having said all these, do not consider yourself "not good researcher" as your papers might have been outstanding, its just that u may not have got good platform to share it for various reasons....
In the grand scheme of things the fact that one published in a non-indexed journal is not to be viewed negatively. The author should strive to publish in reputed journals wherever possible. The idea behind publishing one's work is quick dissemination of information. Sometimes non-indexed journals cans serve that purpose effectively.
The fruit of scientific research is the publication in scientific journals, and comes to get a good fruit through the selection of the magazine to suit the scientific achievement that has been achieved. Some of the original researches and value are promoted to be within the patents or published in the major international journals known in the medical, engineering or other scientific, but they are published in magazines and low scientific value and most of these magazines are local and do not exist on the Internet and even if they have sites On the Internet are not quoted or adopted as references to research published in scientific journals with internationally adopted standards.
It follows that not all scientific research is available on the Internet that can be trusted and adopted as a source only after it has been verified that it is published in a magazine indexed within the international standards database.
You will be judged by the quality of your research paper & its relevance to them . When one reads an article , they look at the abstract first & then read the whole article . If they like it , they will look at the journal & the authors & cite it , if required . They will not decide whether you are a good researcher or not , on the basis of the journal .
Not at all. There are more reasons for publishing in a less or non-indexed journal than just research quality.
Consider publication cost, duration of review, reviewer misjudgments, age of a good journal (some good journal are just still young) and more that may easily drive some good researchers with very good quality work to publish in a less-complicated or competitive journal.
There are still a lot of (local) professional associations' journals that are not indexed but are highly recommended by professionals in the given field. Publishing with those journals has not made those researchers weak either.
Not at all. It depends mainly on the quality of the paper and not really the publisher. Even journals with high h- index/ high impact factor could have low quality papers. Researchers should be assessed mainly on the quality of publications.
Publishing in a Scientific Journal Not Indexed, Does Not Do It Wrong Investigator.
It will simply have less curricular score and less visibility or diffusion; A fortiori, if your ideas or proposals are valuable, as they will go unnoticed by many
The title of the journal is not necessarily the publishing element, but according to the required regulations of any university or academic institution and the controls of the ministry affiliated to the researcher.
Absolutely. Did you know that there is excellent research with a very weak h-index, at the same time, with unfortunately, there is weak research with a very high h-index. Moreover, some researchers have only mentioned the research of their friends, even if they are weak. All this is with the loss of scientific credibility.
As far as I understand, there is no such thing as - a "GOOD" or a "BAD" researcher analogy.
I think, we humans have a tendency to tag people or things as good or bad. For instance, if your deeds are not up-to-the mark, if you are quite blunt with your words, you will be classified as a "BAD" person, while if you are humble and always helping others, it won't matter if it is all fake, but if you are doing all this, you will be definitely tagged as a "Good" person with a golden heart!
Very similarly, when it comes to research, the research fraternity tags boffins based on their publications, the number of citations that they have, and what not...! In my opinion, one must pay heed to themselves and not listen to blasphemy. It doesn't matter whether you have your publications in a non-indexed journal or an indexed one. What matters is, you are doing your bit for the society and the research community! There is so much to do, yet so little is done. Contribution counts.
I hope you and every passionate soul here would agree with my point and I wish you luck with your research.
The content of the research article place significance. It is the quality that matters -not the journal in which the same is published. I agree with Dr K N Sheth
The question becomes who are the people that you are trying to reach with your article. What is your audience? If you are trying to reach only academics, by all means stick with an indexed journal. If your subject is intended for a specific audience, then a journal that is more narrowly focused might be the best path to take. I teach criminal justice. Two of the "indexed" journals in that field are Justice Quarterly and Criminology. My primary areas of research are in gangs and organized crime. Therefore, I often choose to publish in the Journal of Gang Research. By reaching a targeted audience, not only is my research actually read, but it it cited more often by other researchers.
Ideas are everything, not respectability. Ideas proferred to the academic community only can fall on a small patch of rich soil, growing there briefly, but given to a wider audience can prosper.
I think that even though a good scientist should publish in journals with high IF to reach higher visibility, publishing some papers in a non indexed journal is suitable, especially when the reasercher is an editor in this journal. Moreover, some new journals or local journals need a support from us, and as scientists we should give this support to allow their indexing.
On the other hand, some non indexed journals have a strong peer review system, more than that of indexed journals.
Sharing knowldege is our mission, publishing it is only a tool.
I have already answered a similar question. ["Indexed or non-indexed - does not matter]. What matters is - my own opinion on the results obtained. I publish only the high-class results. Also, I usually spend much time on all the results be clear-to-understand and the paper be easy-to-read.
I do not think so, for the simple reason that previously there was very valuable research with high scientific content and there are no such magazines with high impact laboratories or indexed journals.
Currently, some academic and academic institutions have begun to impose on their academic and research staff that their research should be published in these commercial magazines, which are of interest only to the material profit, so we are obliged to spend thousands of dollars in order to continue working within these universities after these arbitrary conditions, Universities of Iraq.
Frankly, I have read some of the research in these journals that found weakness in language and poverty in their science, and here I do not mean all magazines and research.
I believe all publishing can be good. However, if you are authoring papers published in nonindexed journals you may want to create a section in your cv titled Non-refereed Articles. If the nonindexed journal had a referee process, but you want to recognize the lower quality of the journal, then then create a section in your cv titled Other Research.
Publishing in non-indexed journal doesn't mean you are not good researcher. We have a lot of non-index journal that are very good and articles they published are even better than some of the indexed journals.
Good researchers publish their works in a variety of outlets including non-indexed journals. Good research can be published in a non-indexed journal (as well as indexed journals). An interesting news article on the revolt by the entire editorial board of a prestigious journal (with a well-regarded commercial publisher) who all resigned in protest to the open access fees can be found at:
If you do not publish in indexed journal, it does not mean that you are a weak researcher; however, if you are unable to publish your article in any indexed journal, it definitely ensure that you are not a good researcher. Hence, try to publish in indexed journal.
