As authors and academic writers, we usually prepare our manuscript using our own resources. We submit these manuscripts to scientific Journals for peer review and publication sometimes at a fee.
These journals after peer review and acceptance will publish our own work which in some case we have to pay before we can read our own work.
We (authors) seem to be spending so much resources to write for journals to publish. But it also seems we gain little in the chain.
I agree with Mr. Suglo. I tried to put together a book composed of my past journal articles but the cost of getting permissions from the journals made it prohibitive. For my next project, which was longer than a journal article, I put the work in book format and published it on Amazon. The journals are ripping the authors off. We need to use Creative Commons and similar outlets instead.
We write manuscripts to scientific Journals for fee, we review manuscripts for scientific Journals for free yet we are charged by these journals when we want to access and read our own work.
