Yes R of course! But Stata is also available... and quite good.

R is not a software per se. It is an environment under which significant amount of coding is required. Coding will be really cumbersome at the point where instant results are sought. I personally use and recommend R as it gives more control on the input data and visualization outputs.

My recommendation at this point will be SPSS trial version if you are looking for some free but potent stuff. Also, start learning R for making a strong base in data handling and analysis.

Also, you can try this if you are working on agricultural or similar datasets.
