My supervisor usually use 1% agarose gel to check the DNA genomic quality of human cancer cells. But in this attached book, it is stated that it should use agarose gel with percentage less than 1%. What percent of agarose gel do you usually use to check the quality? Thanks in advance.
Depends on you goal? if you just want to quickly check if you have good quality (not degraded) DNA of a high molecular weight and no RNA contamination then 1% is sufficient. This is usually also standard as a quality check prior to illumina sequencing. However, if you want more separation then a 0.5% gel ran overnight at 30v is usually the answer. I only ever do this when checking samples for pacbio sequencing though.

As Russel says, it depends. I generally use anywhere between 0.7 to 1 % for a quick check too. 0.7% so that I can run it on a high V for a quick check.
0.8 to 1.0 percent is fine to check genomic DNA. I usually use 0.8%, but sometimes I do check genomic DNA on 1% agarose gel along with my PCR samples.
Usually 05-0.6% agarose gel we use for the genomic DNA for better resolution.
