i want to compare anticancer activity of my metal complexes with the metastatic non metastatic cancer cell lines . some of them told that choose MCF-7 and MDA-MB-435 there are non-metastatic and metastatic cell lines respectively. is it true? and what is the other difference in these two breast cancer cell lines? if it possible kindly give some articles.
No, MCF-7 is considered metastatic.
The non-tumorous and non-metastatic line is MCF-10A or MCF-12A.

Certainly, the MCF-7 WT cells exhibit some features of differentiated mammary epithelium including estradiol synthesis and formation of domes, and in mice bearing MCF-7 WT tumors no metastases were found. However, recent evidence suggests that the expression of estrogen receptor (ER) variants in breast cancer may interfere with wild-type (wt) ER function and be related to tumor progression and resistance to hormone treatment. To this point, ER delta E5 was found also in MCF-7 WT cell line. A complete absence of both ER delta E5 and wtER was noted in four ER-/PgR- tumors and one normal breast cell line, namely HBL-100. The data suggest that the occurrence of ER delta E5 in breast cancer may represent a critical stage in tumor progression to autonomy. So, MCF-7 WT cells “are non metastatic” rather relatively to MDA-MB-435 ones, and really non metastatic cell lines like HBL-100 have to be used.

MCF-7 cells metastasize but they are not robust like 231s. We have animal derived secondary and tertiary lines that based on estrogen availability metastasize to multiple organs. Please see paper:

MDA-MB-231 is highly metastatic, whilst MDA-MB-468 is poorly metastatic.
Please be aware that the currently available MDA-MB-435 is a melanoma cell line.

468LN, a lymphatic metastatic variant of the poorly metastatic breast adenocarcinoma cell line MDA-MB-468 with GFP expression (468GFP) has been established. 468LN expresses high levels of VEGF-D but little VEGF-C or VEGF-A. Such a lymphatic metastatic phenotype of 468LN has been accounted for by expression of VEGF-D production and alpha9beta1 integrin (a receptor for lymphangiogenic factors VEGF-C/-D).
