How to extract tannins from a plant without polysaccharides ? With hot water extraction , which seems to be optimal conditions to extract tannins, we also extract a lot of polysaccharides. Is there a simple "purification step" to eliminate them ? Precipitation, pH diferrenciation or enzymatic reaction ? I cant use other solvent than ethanol or water.

Hi Helene Esselin, although I'm not an expert in the field, the attached study might be of some help. It shows that frequently better results in the hot water extraction of tannins have been achieved by adding certain amounts of external chemicals such as sodium hydroxide or urea.
