When I autoclaved the tips that will be used in my DNA and RNA extractions, the tips had drops of water inside, although I covered the boxes of tips with foil.
Just put the tips in an oven at 70C for an hour to dry. They will be okay to use. Better still, buy sterile filter tips so that nucleases in your pipetter don't get into your RNA samples due to aerosols.
If not able to use the disposable tips then put the tips in air tight container and covered it with some papers (like newspaper), then the chance of moisture to tips is minimum during autolclaving. But always try to use every thing moisture free for RNA extraction.
Yes... you can use but it matters when u are working with the microliters (less volume) especially in molecular biology techniques. After autoclave keep the tips in oven at 50-60oC for 2hrs till the water gets evoporate then use for the experimentation.
Its always better to use tips with filters because, even after drying up in oven, there is a good chance of degradation of your samples particularly in RNA extraction.
I agree with Richared, and I think he give you the best answer. And also I suggest you; do this step always for autoclaved equipment, but be aware about oven temperature.
although i don't have the experience of using autoclaved tips after drying in oven .. i would suggest you ....try to avoid such type of practice especially for RNA extraction and for rare sample .
if you have enough sample try to perform and share results with us ... lets see what happens....
For RNA work it is preferred to treat your plastic ware in 1% DEPC for 2 hours at 37 0c by completely submerging them. Then autoclave them for 30 min to inactivate DEPC and then oven dry them at 50 to 60 0c until completely dry. Use polypropylene material tips.
