I used to use pDRAW for my TA class however it has some issues with installation and crashes with different windows versions. I am looking for an alternate genome annotating software that I can use for DNA as well as protein sequences and can show restriction sites, pick primers, show gel digestion. Any suggestions?
I've used Serial Cloner (http://serialbasics.free.fr/Serial_Cloner.html) for most of this. There's also NCBI's genome workbench although I found this very non-intuitive to use.
Serial cloner is free but can also be a bit buggy/crashy.
I'm using ApE (A plasmid editor).

I also recommend serial cloner. Lots of features, free, but on older computer it is slow as hell....otherwise it is good program.
I use ApE which is easy to use and works both on Mac and PC (so that students can use it at home whatever computer they have ;-) )
Has anyone noticed that the ApE website is down? the site says: Description: internal error - server connection terminated
Does this mean A plasmid editor is gone forever? I sure hope not! It's been a very useful tool for me!
