I have been using BSA to do control experiments on a plasmonic biosensor with gold nanoparticles of various coatings. BSA tends to stick irreversibly to our nanoparticles because of its hydrophobic regions and surface thiol, and probably due to electrostatics as well.

We'd like to repeat these controls with a less "sticky" protein; that is, a protein that's unlikely to have surface thiols and ideally not very many hydrophobic regions. We'd like this protein to be of similar molecular weight (ie 40-85kDA) and be affordable. Would anyone have any suggestions? This would help me tremendously.
