Has anyone used BD Biocoat 8-well cell culture chambers before? If so do you have any advice on how to remove the chamber without soaking in an alcohol? I cannot permeabilize the cells I am growing on the slide for this experiment.
The BD chamber slides I have used came with a specific tool for removing the chambers. You push it between the chamber and the slide and it breaks the chamber free. If you can't find the tool that came in the box with the slides, maybe you could try carefully sliding a sterile blade between the chamber and the slide and using it like a lever to remove the chamber.
My experience with the BD chamber slides was the same of Belinda Goldie. There a small tool that comes inside the box of slides. It works well. Actually I faced some difficulties when I had to put a coverslip on the top of slide. The residual adhesive that is not removed from the border of slide increases the distance between the coverslip and the cells. The result is a distortion in the image captured by confocal microscopy. Apart from that, if you're not going to use coverslips, the culture slides are quite good.
You could use different kind of 8-chamber slides. The company who makes the chamber slides is SPL in Korea (www.spllifesciences.com). YOu don´t need of any tools for removing the chambers because they work with a "clips"-system and there is no glue residue to remove from the glass.
