If I want to have several concentrations of a drug by using methanol as a solvent, how can I reduce or remove the toxicity of methanol in the solution? And is it necessary to do so?
If more information helps, this is an in vitro practice, and I want to apply different concentrations of the drug on breast cancer cell line.

You will need to run vehicle control to know that if methanol is causing any toxicity at the concentration you are using as solvent, and optimise concentration of methanol for eg, try to make more concentrated stock drug. So that less amount of drug is needed for dilution.

If I make a stock solution with 1 gram of the drug and 1 Liter methanol(1:1000), would it be enough? I just wonder since I've read that the maximum toxicity for methanol is usually between 0.1-1% and I would like to apply microliters on the cell line.
Generally we make 10 milli molar stock drug or 1mg/ml as you said , and then we dilute in micro molar or ug , because cell lines generally are sensitive to micro quantities. And i think as methanol is volatile it will not cause much toxicity as it will evaporate soon.
