I want to check expression levels of miRNAs in saliva samples. I came across this kit and it provides protecting agent for the transport of Samples and a kit for total RNA extraction. My Question is that whether this kit is enough for quantifying miRNAs or should I include miRNA enrichment kit too? Will this kit isolate the miRNAs for me?

Apparently only the miRNA fraction contained in the salivary exosomes represents the relevant miRNA population; thus, it would be important first to isolate the salivary exosomes and then you may even use TRIZOL reagent to purify the miRNAs. I have used Exiqon and Qiagen miRNA kits but can tell you confidently that once you have purified the relevant fraction, even using TRIZOL method, you can isolate miRNAs for downstream applications.
I have to actually ship the samples from another city so I need the preserving agent. It will take 2-3 days in the shipment process.
