Can cells incorporate Ethidium Homodimer-1 without dying?

Is it possible that cells, specially those with purinergic system, incorporate Ethidium Homodimer-1 (EthD-1) without dying? For example, in the Live & Dead kit, can EthD-1 labelled cells not be dead after all?
