Hi,

I´d like to trace the C and N flow in a recirculating aquaculture system by labelling the fish feed with concentrated stable isotopes. From a supplier, I found a product ouf of algae lysate that is enriched in 13C and 15N. I plan to mix it with commercial fish feed pellets, but don´t know how to do it properly.

In some published studies, a simple soak-and-dry method was used, namely soaking the pellets in isotopen-enriched solution followed by drying. In this case, I worry that the isotopes are only bound at the surface of the pellets and easily dissolved in water before eaten by fish. Can anyone suggest a method to avoid losing the isotopes through dissolution?
