I treated an Astrocytoma cell line to 10 gry of (gamma Irradiation), I noticed that an up-regulation of DNMT1, DNMT3a and DNMT3b gene expression. is there any explanation?

It is possible that SWI/SNF histone remodeling complexes are modulated by PI3K/Akt, ERK/MAPK/MSK and p38 (Foster et al., 2006), (Pérez-Cadahía, 2011), (Simone et al., 2004). Transcription factors like STAT and NF-κB and c-Jun also interact with HAT/HDAC and DNMT1 (Icardi et al., 2012), (Ashburner, 2001), (Wolter et al., 2008). All epigenetic changes could in fact be activated by p38 a p53 as disscused in thease papers.

To find a clear explanation you have to provide more information; like, how about HDAC1 & 2? At what level of DNMTs expression you noticed? mRNA, protein or both?
