I am using the Qiagen miRNEASY serum/plasma advanced kit, using 400ul of frozen plasma. What is the yield you get on average? I am using nanodrop currently for quantification. I am getting extremely variable results, I don't know if there's something wrong with my technique or its something else.
For miRNA from serum or plasma, 0.85 ng/μl would be an expected average yield. Of course the yield may vary a bit from sample to sample. For measuring the concentration, I would recommend Qubit miRNa kit or Agilent bioanalyzer rather than Nanodrop.

I also obtained quite variable result during isolating RNA from frosen serum with these conditions. Qubit measurement can provide more accurate data, but I don't think the technique could be wrong, Qiagen kits are really user friendly.
