Is it possible to use SDS as a disinfectant for when you want to put equipment into the laminar flow cabinet ( for when you want to do cell culture work)?
I only knew SDS as surfactant till now. I never knew if it could be used as disinfectant.
I think SDS with NaOH could be used for disinfection. but you know that NaOH,,,
Yes you can use it but not effective for the spores removal you have to use the 70 % Ethanol whihc is the best the best surface sterlizer i have studied in Master. This is the best for any kind of culture cell lines or you are working of culture stuff. Pleae check the Prescott book is required more suitable answer.
Wont SDS make your equipment soapy and require additional washing to remove it ? Better to stick with cleaning your euipment with 70% ethanol or dil.HCL (if it is made of glass or has glass parts). Plus, if you are putting things in a laminar hood after disinfecting, might as well switch on the UV lamp for 30 mins before using them as n added measure.
possible, probably yes. But generally people use 70% ethanol and ethanol down everything the put into the hood. This is generally more than adequate.
