I have a standard curve for an ELISA, and want to find unknown concentrations from absorbances.
my polynomial equation is:
y= - 1e-06x^2 + 0.0032x + 0.2562
How can I solve this to find analyte concentrations as we don't have x?
Can someone explain how to do this in excel?

Use the quadratic formula to solve for x.
y = ax^2 + bx + c
ax^2 + bx + (c-y) = 0
x = (-b - square root(b^2 -4a(c-y))/(2a)
(It's always - square root, not +, in these situations.)
y= - 1e-06x^2 + 0.0032x + 0.2562
a = -1e-06
b = 0.0032
c = 0.2562
You can just type this formula into the formula bar in Excel in the usual way, with a cell reference for y.
