I am currently investigating the cytotoxicity of a series of herbal extracts, and like many studies, I have been using the MTT assay to evaluate cell viability. However, I am encountering a significant challenge: my extracts are highly colored, which interferes with the colorimetric readings inherent to the MTT assay. This interference could potentially lead to inaccurate results.

Could anyone recommend alternative methods for assessing cell toxicity that are less susceptible to interference from colored compounds?
