The development of a vaccine for COVID-19 has become a battleground for many countries to prove to the world/their own peoples that their technology is superior and better than the competitors at the international stage. it is always a point of concern when science is serving the political establishment. Russia claimed that they have developed 'the first' Covid-19 vaccine. WHO is raising concern about the validity of this claim and urging Russia to provide sufficient data to back this claim.
Is it possible for the same scenario to be repeated in the US? An election is near and COVID-19 vaccine development can influence the result.

We are in a competitive world. It's not necessary to be the first for COVID-19 vaccines without following guidelines and safety and effectiveness are more important here. If it's effective, then of course it's a good news and nothing to hide here. Make it available for all and vaccine nationalism should be a crime in this global crisis.

They are probably doing Phase One testing, or possibly Phase Two; we are in Phase Three; with vaccine production on the way as well. Our first publicized vaccine shot was March 16, 2020; this was a Phase One injection I believe. I don't think that they are ahead, if they are they may be rushing things. Probably more for publicity, as was the photograph below from the news on March 16, 2020; the alleged first vaccination for COVID-16; done in Seattle.
Let's wait for the results... It is a different thing to announce success and to sure the infected people. There are many people in the world who offer a magic treatments which finally become useless.... In my opinion many countries are on the same way but Russia skept some phases of tests and already announced the vaccine, however, it is not ready yet...

Russia's COVID-19 vaccine has not gone through the mill as some other vaccines, the front-runners being Chinese vaccine which is undergoing phase 3 trials in China, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine, also in phase 3 trials, and Moderna's US vaccine.

The research in the COVID-19 becoming state secret so transparency is not high on the agenda especially in Russia! Maybe they had a head start if we accept some of the accusation that is going on!. Vietnam is among the first to register her interest of purchasing Russian Vaccine.
Absolutely, the competition is main reason behind this. But the researchers and scientific community should be be more ethical than feeling pressure of political concerns.
it seems that more research should be done and all the steps of making the vaccine should be done properly and clarified.

The educated must be aware that media and politicized thoughts are not free in our world. United States is suffering from this Corona pandemic as other countries do but still could come out with the vaccines in a reasonable time. China and Russia are countries with reasonably good health systems .These countries are responsible countries and are members of world health organization(WHO) and also are competent in producing the much waited vaccines.I do not feel that their systems in authorizing new vaccine, is less stringent than USA .Indeed FDA is a respectable agency for authorizping vaccines but that does not make it the only one .The carried out tests for Chinese and Russian vaccines are similar but not identical to what other agencies like FDA do,this does not make these agencies less competent .The political system in those countries has its own features .If China and Russia are giving their vaccacine to their people and we are not able e to produce any of these, I
believe we must be grateful to them for making their vaccines available to our people .They do report their results to WHO and this is satisfactory. FDA is an American organaisation .I am sure that the FDA system of drugs approval is under political pressure but regulations applied can stop any ill advised notations .
