Hi, I have found my Trizma-HCl buffer (strored in a fridge) to be contaminated with sth like "clouds" (see pictures). I prepared a fresh solution and during sdjusting the pH with NaOH (40% or 2N) these clouds turned up again. Where is the problem? I have never had such problems.

Use buffer components ideally for pH adjustment ( Tris base - Base and HCl - Acid)
And preventing this type of buffer contamination, you can filter it with 0.2 or 0.45 micron filtration in autoclaved bottle and cap it tightly. ( Even you can use vax tape to seal tight the bottle cap.

Is it possible the buffer has been dissolved in tapwater, containing Ca2+ which precipate CaCO3 above pH 8?
Could be surfactants in detergent. Try preparing in polyprolylene or other non-washed lab glassware. Almost looks like micelles..??
