We are working on biopolymeric hydrogels. Our system is highly viscous and sticky, and the gel formed are high in strength. We are unable to use pH electrode and pH strip. Please suggest an easy and reliable method to check the pH of our system.
To measure the pH of your highly viscous and sticky biopolymeric hydrogels, consider using optical hydrogel sensors for remote monitoring, or incorporating pH-sensitive colorimetric indicators that change color based on pH levels. Additionally, turbidity measurements can be employed, as changes in the gel's cloudiness may correlate with pH variations. These methods offer reliable alternatives when traditional pH electrodes and strips are unsuitable.
According to the classification of dispersed systems, meat is classified as hydrogels. You can use the method of measuring the pH of meat. Meat pH measurements in practice are carried out by immersing electrodes in a homogenized mass, using a piercing electrode adapted for taking measurements in solid foods, colorimetrically in a Michaelis apparatus in a Walpole comporator , ionometrically, potentiometrically.
