I want to measure the growth of a certain bacterium in rat feces. Therefore, I do not think it is necessary to use an NGS technique. Based on the literature for reading bacteria in feces, significant variability is reported using qPCR (doi: 10.3389/fcimb.2020.00403). Does anyone who has had experience in the subject, are the abundance measurements by qPCR reliable? In my case, I would like to measure Enterococcus spp (I would use a primer specific for this bacterium) and normalize with 16s total nonspecific. Any other recommendations? Thanks
