I want to determine which kit is better for extracting DNA from insects in bird feces, with the purpose of conducting barcoding later on. So far, we have been using a modified homemade kit for DNA extraction from feces, but we have found that the amount of DNA obtained is very low and the quality is even worse...

I am considering using the Qiagen QIAamp DNA Stool Kit for this extraction, as I have read that it is a common choice. However, I am also contemplating the QIAamp PowerFecal DNA Kit, even though it is more expensive.

Does anyone have any idea about this? Which one is the better option? Any experiences?
