In the picture given below, there are encapsulated tissues. All green plantlets were derived from same donor plant after 3 weeks encapsulation initiation. The outermost empty petri plates are also same encapsulated tissues with similar formulation as central plates. Only difference was the central ones placed on MS germination medium, while others were not, and they were stored in growth chamber in empty plates.

Germination and growth are visible with encap. tissues in petri dishes containing MS, although all tissues were embeded into MS+sodium alginate beads plate .

My question is "Why were encapsulated tissues in empty plates growing much slower than others or no growth at all (without rupturing the gel beads) in spite of the beads containing MS formulations? Do you have any ideas?
