What would be the optimum dilution of microgels that should be used in the case of FE-SEM sample preparation? I would be using a glass substrate for imaging. I will either spin coat or dry the sample by drop cast method. I want to avoid agglomeration of my microgel samples and obtain well distributed particles.

try for spin coating method and dilution could be depending upon type of sample, but do not go for large dilution, obviously you could use glass substrate, along with it you could try for thin copper sheets also if your sample is non-conducting
It is probably best if you do a range of dilutions and find one that works for your material and equipment. One of the main problems I have is students coming to me with microgels for SEM that are too concentrated But what dilution works for some will not work for others - so a bit of experimentation needed I think. Sorry to be so vague!
i suggest spin coating using access of alcohol till you get uniform film from your microgels
