Is anyone working or is aware of a hydrogel which can be prepared at room temperature? (Without heating it to higher temperature above room temperature Ex: PNIPAM hydrogel )
Polyacrylamide hydrogel can be synthesized at room temperature. An aqueous solution in the proportions of 180 : 12 : 1 (w/w) of acrylamide, N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide and diethoxyacetophenone will polymerize under ultraviolet light at room temperature, and is stable otherwise. The actual concentrations depend on the desired rigidity of the resulting hydrogel. A systematic study of polyacrylamide rigidity as a function of composition is described in
