The dose in general expressed as mg/ kg. But animal expérimentation include many species not only mice or rat. In all cases it's the same thing. The used dose is related to animal weigh.

The Rat and the Mice do not have the same LD50, so there is something to convert the dose !!

You can use the idendicated dose as a point to start experimental assays. Of course after administration the ADME system of the two species may be different and the achiement to brain or neuronal system also.
