Please suggest, how to store a SDS-PAGE gel, after colloidal coomassie staining? I have to do LC/MS analysis, but instrument is not available for few days. can i store the gel? if yes how long? in what buffer or can i store in colloidal coomassie dye itself?

but you should fix your proteins in 30% EtOH +10% AcOH in H2O before storage
You can store the gel in MQ water as long as you want to store provided you do not run out of the water in the box. But take special care to take the fresh and clean box to put the gel because Mass spectroscopy is very sensitive technique so you do not want traces of contamination. Alternatively you can cut the gel pieces and put in a 1.5 mL microfuge tube filled with milliQ water.
You can store the gel with MQ water for two weeks at 4 °C, or you can cut the bands you want to send for LC/MS and put each in a tube with 10ul of MQ at -80.
Just cut the band precisely. Store it in a microcentrifuge tube with MQ water. Use new gloves and new scalpel for cutting to prevent contamination. MS is very sensitive to contamination. To minimize the background noise, try to avoid excess gel. During staining, don`t heat the gel. It will affect the MS.
