I have some samples that contain protein precipitates in ammonium sulphate which I would like to analyse by scanning electron microscopy. What is a good procedure for preparing the samples of this nature for said technique?
Disperse your sample in a medium to get very dilute dispersion. Coat your material on a glass/mica/Al-foil substate by simple drop/spin/spray coating and remove the solvent by vacuum drying. Coat the dry sample with C or Au. Then observe it with the SEM. You may see^
