Generally using powerpoint. I draw lines to make DNA SEQUENCES.I work on dna a lot and most of the times, I have to make DNA sequence figures like the example file I attached but I dont know how to make. Is there any tool for making this type of diagram. I have checked chem biodraw, adobe illustrator etc but not able to find this type of tool

do you align your sequenes to databases using BLAST? If you do, why not make a screenshot of the alignment?

I agree with Dr. Schmidt. I used BLAST for alignment my sequences for HLA and it was easy to do a screenshot.

It is strongly recommended to draw such figures with a vector-based program for publication (no raster graphic /pixels). So, the figure is scalable to any format with high quality. I get used to use inkscape for that. Nevertheless, you have to take some time to get used to the program.
You can of cause write text ,
some easy shapes might be included (rectangles with or without round edges)
You may be very frustrated working with this program the first time, as there are many options, you have to be aware of (e.g.: if you resize a shape, be aware that there is an option to resize the thickness of the line as well - these options are often hidden behind little icons, so it can be difficult to find them). More complex shapes, you can draw on your own (e.g. arrows). You can use the bezier curves tool for that. After giving it a shape you can set this point at a exact position on your working sheet (0,001 mm accurancy) - have you ever been not really sure if a line is really perfectly horizontal? You no longer will have doubts. Once you have done that, you can reuse complex shapes and rotate, resize them .
BUT: if you just want a quick (and not even dirty) solution: stick to Powerpoint. Export as vector grafic (svg, emf, ...) and use it.
