There a hundrede of chemicals that can be used to make buffers from. To know which chemical reaction can happen it is needed to know which acid and base you used in the buffer.

The reactions would depend a lot on the storage conditions.

I don't think an acetate is very strong buffer at pH 8.2 but it would at least take up CO2 from the atmosphere which would decrease the pH a bit over time.
