In one paper that I´m currently reading, I found that these author creating reporter mice to to trace cells that involve in tissue repair in kidney.

In this study, they cross Six2-GFP-Cre mice with those who carry reporter genes as following (Picture below).

My question is: why do they use GFP-Cre here? Why not just using Six2-Cre? Would this GFP would interfere with other fluorescent signals if you use other fluorescent reporter genes?

I´m not familiar with generating reporter mice, so I will highly appreciate kind help/explanation from you, who are more experienced than me.

Thank you very much in advance.
