I am developing two different cancer models in immunocompetent balb/c mice by subcutaneusly injection of Hela and SK-BR-3 cell lines. Appreciate any suggestions.Is there any option to generate tumor in an immunocompetent balb/c mice?. Can we make them immonodeficient? If there is no possibility to use immunocompetent balb/c mice then which type of mice is suggested?

1. Immunocompetent balb/c can't be injected human cancer cell lines.
2. Human cancer lines must be injected to immunodeficient mice.
3. 4T1 and EMT6 are very good models in balb/c mice.

You can only inject tumor cell lines that are syngeneic to the Balb/c mice.
Alternatively, if you want to specifically look at Hela and SK-BR-3 tumors, then you could use a scid moue, nude mouse, or NOD SCID mouse.
Nude mice and NOD/SCID mice are most commonly used as immunodeficient mice for cancer cell injection.

You can not inject human cell line to immunocompetent Balb/C mice. For Immunocompetent mice you have to use syngenic cells otherwise you have to choose immunodeficient mice like nude, scid or nod mice then you can use human or mouse origin cells to them.

Yes, you are right. I did not get any cancerous mice after tumor human Hela cell injection to the immunocompetent Balb/C mice and that is why now I am going to order immunodeficient mice to INVIVOS company. This company have 4 different types of immunodeficient mice including:
1. NCr nude (Price 62.05 $)
2. BALB/c nude (Price 116.70 $)
3. CB17 scid (Price 84.15 $)
4. NOD scid (Price 128.10 $)
And I do not know what is the difference of those immunodeficient mice and which one is the best choice to order. I would be so much appreciative if you give me some suggestions.

Using only for HeLa cells to develop cancer mice model then you can easily go for Balb/C or SCID for best result.
Actually most of the people prefer Balb/C nude mice for their study to develop solid tumor and checking the anticancer activity of some molecules or drugs.
If you some other specific study then according to reference article you should go with that mice model only otherwise balb/c or Scid is fine.

Making up your mind about which mouse to use really depends on whether you need the mouse to have B-cell response or combined if you need it to be B and T-cell deficient. Some strains have natural killer cells (NK-cell) response as well. So look into the litterature if what you want to do with your model is dependent on the different type of responses and then look into the cathalogs from the mouse producing facilities to see which mouse strain has the combination of immune difficiency you want and the price of it.
