We generally use primocin as a antibiotic in primary cell culture. In literature, primocin has been used for primary cells. Is it any problems I use primocin for cancer cell line? Negative effect, decrease of cell proliferation rate etc...
Promocin is a cocktail composed of agents targeting bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma. I dont really see why it cant be used againt cancer cells. It does not contain any agent specifically targeting cancer cells.
Indeed, there are few studies that reported the use of primocin as antibiotic for cancer cell lines. Please see the following links:
Other studies use gastric cancer cell lines that typically harbor oncogenic ... supplemented with antibiotics (Primocin; Invivogen, Toulouse, France), for 1 hour
Stem cell derived cultures harbor tremendous potential to model infectious diseases. ... mechanisms underlying cancer development use cancer cell lines, ... such as Glutamax and appropriate antibiotics such as 1x Primocin.

Do you use primocin only for the isolation and first days in culture? or you use it always in culture? I'm isolating cells from mouse embryos but I need to do 3 or 4 passing before start the real experiment and I'm not sure if is Ok after the first passing switch to penicillin streptomycin. What do you use to do?
We use it always in culture. I am not see any expected situation at cells. I think primocin is better than penicillin streptomycin with respect topreservation of contamination.
