I am looking for an easy to read ladder especially on the upper end. I have a ladder that currently goes up to 12kb but after 5kb the bands are hard to decipher.
promega do as 10bp ladder described as 10bp DNA Step Ladder: Ten blunt-ended DNA fragments ranging from 10bp to 100bp in exactly 10bp increments. All of the bands are of approximately equal intensity with the exception of the 10bp band, which may appear slightly less intense. as do Fermentas and life technologies ( gibco brl,Invitrogen and now Thermo scientific )
thank you. I am looking for something that will give me good representation above 10Kb. Any thoughts on that?
I'm guessing the bands above 5kb are hard to decipher simply because the agarose concentration doesn't allow them to be resolved. Are you looking for fewer high-MW bands so that the bands are easier to distinguish from each other?
