I have an ultrasound machine, which has old images of cattle back fat scans. The machine is self contained and I can measure the back fat using the software built in on the machine but I have to write down the measurements and take an average. I can export the images to my computer and I was wondering if there was a suitable software to automate the measuring or at least let me do it manually and save the measurements automatically?
There are certainly plenty of image processing packages that you could use to get automatic measurement of feature dimensions.
Now, automatizing the measurements will mostly depend on how the images look like, and if there are any specific features (interfaces in particular, or speckle characteristics) that would allow the segmentation of fat from other tissues. ), and it seems that some interfaces are detectable (skin, superficial fascia and deep fascia), and the fat layer is hypoechoic, relative to skin and muscle. So it should not be to difficult in terms of processing. You could probably look into ImageJ (https://imagej.net/).- Badges
