It depends upon your material, if you are extracting it from leaves so you can simply use Liquid nitrogen method of whiniing 1992 but if you want to extract it form seed so then you can use CTAB method.
IF I wanted DNA extraction I would've been more specific by just referring to the process of DNA extraction. However, what I truly meant is the anti-proliferation activity of a plant, I just want to get the plant extract and test it on cancer cell lines. that's all. I guess I made it clear in the explanation underneath my question. Thanks for you response anyway :-)
You can use the Soxhlet extraction method for getting the extracts using various solvents by successive solvent extraction in the order of increasing polarity ( I have used this method during my studies). Also if you want to surpass the heating procedures, simply you can use the maceration technique by macerating the crude drug powder with the solvent for 24 hrs. In every case, you will get sufficient extract for your total analysis from initial screening till the mechanistic studies.
As far as maximum efficiency is concerned, I would recommend Soxhlet extraction.
