Hi everybody!

I would like to ask your opinion (especially phycologist or anybody who works with plant cell suspension cultures) about this: as we know, Laminariales gametophytes (brown algae) growth like undifferentiated microscopic filaments and these can be culture in liquid medium where they usually form small clumps over 2 mm. So..the question is: this type of culture could be considered as a cell suspension culture? Generally, plant suspension culture can be initiated from callus or (as it is recommended for seaweeds) from protoplast. In the situation that I have mentioned, the culture is initiated using the gametophytic phase.

Thanks in advance!
