I was extracting pigments (chl a, c and fucoxanthine) from gametophytes cultures of Undaria pinnatifida using DMSO as a solvent. After quantification, my results showed more chl c than chl a content (ratio chl c/chl a around 4). I dont know if this is possible because, as far as i know, chl a should be always higher or at least similar to chl c.

How many times have you conducted the extraction and quantification steps? Try repeating to verify your findings.
Hello Arizaldo. I conducted the extraction 5 to 6 times in one day. Also, i conducted another extraction in a different date. In both cases, the amount of Chl c is always higher than Chl a (expressed as mg/g fresh weight)
You can see some about this in the page 16 of Lee, 2008, Phycology. Fourth ed.
Although it is not clear about the specific taxonomic group mentioned, you can found that Chl-a:Chl-c ratios could range from 0.6:1 to 5.5:1 among organisms of Dinophyta, Heterokontophyta and Cryptophyta.
I suggest you try to find the original references after consulting this book.
