We want to distinguish rat male somatic cells from female ones (the male cells would be transplanted into females). Ideally by immunodetection.
So, many questions:
is there an antibody against a Y-chromosome specific protein?
qPCR or insitu hybridization may be an alternative. Does anybody know which probes are better?
Ah! for qPCR or immuno it should be a Y-chromosome mRNA/Protein expressed not only in testis, but also in somatic adult cells

There is a nice paper, which maybe you already know "Allogeneic Liver Transplantation and Subsequent Syngeneic Hepatocyte Transplantation in a Rat Model: Proof of Concept for in vivo Tissue Engineering" from Rohn et al (2015) in Cells Tissues Organs. Y-chromosome detection of the transplanted male cells was performed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FisH) with localization of transplanted cells by immunohistochemistry. On the other hand, it could be useful an anti-DDX3Y antibody (check abcam or sigma catalogo). It looks Y-chromosome specific, but you have to check the homology with DDX3X to avoid cross reactivity.
