At 150m depth, German submarine from World War II is still causing damage. Loaded with ~70 ton. of mercury for weapons manufacture in Japan the U-864 was sunk off coast of Norway (1945). In total ~1,860 cylinders (~70 ton.) of Mercury (updated value ~US$4,000,000.00).
The Norwegian government's solution is to literally bury problem, they intend to bury submarine with 100,000 cubic meters of sand in local place.
Is this a good solution or only one? What is your scientific opinion on this?

In some parts of the seas and oceans there are still many wrecks of sunken submarines and ships from the Second World War. For example, many of these wrecks still lie at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. These wrecks contain tanks and barrels containing chemicals that can seriously pollute the natural environment of the Baltic Sea. Taking into account the period of several decades that has passed since the sinking of these ships, now these tanks and barrels with chemicals may become unsealed due to corrosion, which may mean contamination of the environment with harmful substances, poisonous to many living organisms. Therefore, it is necessary to urgently recover these shipwrecks or at least the aforementioned tanks and barrels with chemicals in order to secure, neutralize and utilize these environmentally hazardous substances.
