I'm growing HUVEC cells in complete media called Endothelial Cell Growth Medium 2 (PromoCell) supplemented with Endothelial Cell Growth Medium 2 SupplementMix, as suggested by the company.
However I would like to know if anyone of you is growing HUVEC cells in other media that work good for HUVEC.

I used to use Endothelial Cell Growth Media from Sigma (#211-500). I found this was a very good media for culturing HUVECs and is ready to use. You can also get media with and without phenol which is good for in vitro studies!
Be aware that HUVECs tend to proliferate less as they get passaged.

I can also second using endothelial medium from Lonza, as suggested by Dewi. The supplements and growth factors also include the appropriate aliquot of FBS. You can use either supplemented or basal media. It also comes in a phenol red free version, in case you need that as well.
In general though, after about passage #7/8, the HUVECs change and do not proliferate as well - they start to lose some of their "cobblestone" morphology.
Hi Federica Foglietta - just curious: you are looking for an alternative because the HUVECs were not growing well enough in the Endothelial Cell Growth Medium 2 (ECGM2)?
The ECGM2 lacks Endothelial Cell Growth Supplement (ECGS, bovine hypothalamic extract) but contains Insulin-like Growth Factor (Long R3 IGF) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF).
Generally, VEGF leads to higher endothelial cell proliferation in culture. But, because of its multiple effects on cell metabolism, it may also interfere with certain experimental setups. In these cases, we recommend the use of Endothelial Cell Growth Medium (cat. #C-22010), which contains no VEGF:

I'd like to tell you about my experience with HUVEC (from ATCC).
As the basal medium, I use F12K nutrient mixture supplemented with 10% FBS, 0.1 mg/mL heparin sodium salt, and 0.03 mg/mL endothelial cell growth supplement (ECGS). This time, I'm using the entire medium by combining all of the elements listed above and changing them every two to three times per week.
This approach, I believe, will be beneficial to you.
