Hi there Everyone! I want to know that what would be the optimum temperature, PH conditions for storing Silver nitrate solution, and does it depend on the concentration of the salt solution as well? I will be using this salt solution in the latter phase of green synthesis of silver nanoparticles and ultimately as a nano-delivery vehicle.
I would not think concentration is so important here. Silver nitrate is highly soluble and should not be light sensitive (like silver chloride). That said, storage in dark would be the safe thing to do. Just wrap bottle with aluminum foil. I would keep it refrigerated to slow any possible bio growth. Silver ions are antimicrobial but nitrate is a nutrient. As for pH, I would expect the native pH (probably slightly acidic) will be stable. You could also find an MSDS for silver nitrate from a vendor and check their recommended storage conditions.We prepared acidic AgNO3 solutions and stored them for months without problem.

You can use a stock solution of silver nitrate in water easily for 2-3 months. No need to maintain pH and concentration. Preferably you should store it in an airtight vial at 4 0C and in dark condition.
