I hope most strongly the following for the Japanese society: In 2016 we have House of Councillors election, and we have to make the present governing parties defeat in the election in order to abolish Security Act, which was made in 2015 in spite of the fact that a number of constitutional scholars considered it unconstitutional, i.e., considered that the use of the right to collective self-defense is in violation of Article 9 of Japanese Constitution.
I pray that the next year may bring PEACE, that we may ALL live quiet and peaceful, healthy and productive lives in harmony with the environment, caring for humans and caring for our environment, as we should as faithful stewards of this earth.
Dear @Hazim, I do wish you Happy New Year! I do hope that my daughters will get the job finally, while for me and my wife I hope it will be healthy! Unfortunately, there is no hope fore my country soon to be better. I do wish peace to all the world, world without immigrants and refugees!
I hope that peace and equality prevail and it remains a poor or needy in this world, and I hope my colleagues in researchgate that all their wishes come true in this new year.
We have salute the beginning of 2016 with our prayer that may god protect us for the in human action of certain mankind so that remaining human beings can pass their life peacefully .
It is very difficult to prognosticate the play of almighty & the nature in which mode they may function in their cosmic & natural environment .
The planetary influence of Jupiter a very holy planet is in Leo a sign of planet SUN remaining up to the period of August 2016 & subsequently move towards the sign Virgo .
The movement of very slow planet Saturn remains in the sign of Scorpio which is also the house of MARS .
Last but not the least the Dragon of Head (Rahu) joining the sign Leo where the holy planet Jupiter is presenting passing under the said planetary influence & the cosmic environment it is the humanity rest in human beings have to play the part for making the entire universal a place of peace & harmony .
I wish a Happy New Year to everyone who has answered this question. I do hope that 2016 will bring peace and prosperity for the whole world and save humanity from the cruel hands of terrorism.
In 2016 and beyond, we hope all people around the world live in peace without !! poverty, hatred, envy, spying each other, create false reasons to fight each other and stealing each other. We hope justice to spread among people and between countries too.
I hope that 2016 & the years after carry out the good news of checking those corrupt politicians in some countries who mastermind conspiracies, hatreds, racism, global terrorism, and wars. Life on earth would have been far better if various creeds and "ebony & ivory" live together in perfect harmony as the attached beautiful song says:
My hope for myself, my family, friends and all mankind, is that we can sing in tune with each other, knowing that the one and only, beautiful tune which we are all given goes on in harmony forever [whatever the material world tells us so horribly to the opposite].
I thought I had posted this one, but Hazim asked me to post it so here it is.
Oh my. What a timely question. I think everyone needs to work a little for the kind of world I think most of us desire. Hoping without effort doesn't seem to be very effective. For some people, going to visit a country they don't know very much about may help them see as fully human some people they formerly distrusted. I think that is a good way to prepare a path for peace and cooperation. What are some other things we could do?
Brenda, when I saw your "peoples of all stripes", I immediately thought of differently colored cats. We like all the cats, striped or spotty or orange or black or white with orange spots, like my cat Tripper. Why can't we like all the different ways people are decorated? It seems stupider and stupider each year.
you wrote: "We like all the cats, striped or spotty or orange or black or white with orange spots... Why can't we like all the different ways people are decorated?" THANK YOU for these words.
May 2016 be the Year of Health- physical and mental, political and economic, ecological and social! May our Blue Planet smile, sing and dance from happiness, friendship, peace and love!
Have a happy new year my good DOWNVOTER colleague. I wish you a prosperous and happiness filled New Year and may the Lord bless your New Year celebration and the oncoming days with love and joyful moments always.
Dear @Hazim, let us hope that New Year will bring more cooperation between RG Community members, less down-votes, more positive attitude, positive thinking and good solutions for the sake of all of as, for the sake of humanity.
I hope for the best care of elder people.. with a message for new generation that our elders are not dispossible humans. They deserve Love, respect, homage with best care. Though there is no solution for most of the social disorders but a hope; hope for betterment...
I wish all here, all the best of Christmas greetings - with its promise of universal Peace on earth, goodwill to all men.
This embraces down-voters, for when I first came to RG, I misunderstood the purpose of down-voting, and once down-voted what I regarded as unacceptably xenophobic, if not racist, remarks. When I quickly understood RG better, I tried to remove my down-vote, but found that I couldn't. And so, I send my Christmas greetings to all, including the one down-voted, and to all down-voters - of whom I was on that occasion one. In the spirit of Christmas, forgive me in my longing for a better world!
I vote for all the good things everyone else has already done the hard work to think up!
Let good things happen to you. Don't say, I don't deserve this kindness. You do! You deserve all the kindness you give to others. Don't wait to be happy. There is nothing more important to do RIGHT NOW! Love your neighbors, both the ones close to you and the ones you have made on RG. I'm so glad I wandered into this community!
Here in the UK, Queen Elizabeth, in her annual Christmas broadcast to the nation said much referring to refugees, conflict and persecution, and she also quoted an old saying, "it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness."
In the New Year, my hope is that we will all look for the candles that will light up the darkness.
May God gift you a style to convert your dream into reality in this New Year, achieve all your goals and get success at every step of life. Let us welcome this New Year with big smile.
Another year has passed, another year has come. A new year is like a blank book, and the pen is in your hands. It is your chance to write a beautiful story for yourself. I wish for you that, with every year, you achieve all of your dreams. May God pour love and care on you.
As the new year going to start.I wish may the good times, live on in our memories.and may we learn lessons, from the troubling times. That will make us stronger and better than ever
Thank you, Tareq, for that stimulating if disheartening article. Coming from a country (not the only but perhaps with more muscle or louder voice) where policy is made by people who disagree on how or whether to approach problems of providing a better quality of life for others, I found this article and many other supporting articles very interesting. Let's hope that in this new year people will examine their own motives and fears before making policies likely to decrease quality of life for the planet and its people.
I hope that the year 2016 will be an proper year for the world to remind ourselves that we are inhabitants of one planet (no other options yet) and we want to live here in harmony and peace. I hope that will be extinguished many military conflicts and the human rights will be respected at every point of the globe. On a personal, professional level, widening valuable forms of cooperation would be satisfactory.
I keep hoping that one day, maybe today, the leaders of the world will wake up as if from a bad dream, and say, "How stupid we have been". And they begin to talk to each other as if suddenly realizing that the others are all human beings too. "What have we done to the earth and to each other?" They apologize for all their mistakes and set about canceling all the laws and policies that they've enacted and replacing them with rational and humane laws and policies.
Thank you very much for sharing this lovely report but I was little bit SAD we (Iraq) were not the first generose country (the country that came in second in generosity toward strangers is Iraq).
Please, just want you to go and see an old history book on Iraq and read about their culture and how they treat their Guests, Strangers, foreigners or any lost/ stray persons. You will see that we are very very generous and open-handed people! I do not want to say that because I am Iraqi but it is well known fact.
To continue with finding good news for you/Iraq/anyone here reading about Iraq's hospitality and repeated again here, from the World Giving Index: 'Iraq comes top in helping a stranger for the first time despite continuing security concerns in the country. Indeed, the remarkable resilience of genersoity in Iraq, which has a strong and diverse culture of religious, tribal and community giving, may well be in some part a response to increased need.'
'Iraq is the country in the world where people are most likely to have helped a stranger, with 79% of people having done so.'
I have only visited two middle-eastern countries,. Jordan and Israel. . We were on a study trip looking at ways the enmity of Israelis and Palestinians might be resolved peacefully. Our first week was in Jordan. The people were very hospitable and kind. Also in Israel, when we visited a Palestinian home, the family would bring us delicious sweets and tea or coffee and show us every kindness. For some reason, we weren't taken to any Jewish homes. I think the trip was badly designed in that way. I would suspect that it is in the Arab and other Muslim cultures to be kind to the stranger. But knowing Hazim, I would also suspect that Iraqis deserve their distinction of being the world's most hospitable people. I wish I could visit there sometime.
