Just listen to what people around the world and from all cultures say about patience.
-Patience is a virtue.
-Good thing comes to those who wait.
-Patience is the key to success.
-Those who are patient gets the best of what they deserve.
-If you try to learn to be patient, the world opens up to you.
-Be patient, and that patience will be rewarded.
Yes, I believe in what Saadi, our great poet said:
Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy.

Dear Colleagues,
Good Day,
“He that can have patience can have what he will.”
― Benjamin Franklin
Dear Colleagues,
Good Day,
Patience does magic with everything. Whether in loosing weight, quitting smoking, raising children or in any unexpected difficult circumstance. Just keep in mind, that patience will work wonders if you give it the time it needs. Time is a big factor in being patient, so amuse yourself while waiting, walk in the park, visit a friend, read a book or even pray to know that you are not alone, God is there for. Just get your mind occupied with things that you like to do and makes you happy.
Dear Hazim as A medical doctor I learned how to be patient from my patients and they taught me it is the key for success and cure

Dear Mr Tahir,
I must accept one thing in life and that is I lack PATIENCE ... Sorry .
I am sure you are a man of great patience , how do I know ? from the way you handle the questions here (on RG) .
Even as I taught , I would snap but I would say sorry to that person ASAP.
I know it is a virtue but hard one to follow.
I agree completely when you say - keeping mind occupied and yes it does make us :)
Yes, I believe in what Saadi, our great poet said:

Great quote. Great advice, dear Behrouz.
I fully agree and support this idea that with patience all difficult obstacles will became smaller and life is better. Patience with time heals many ailments.
I fully agree with doctor Yassin. I too, as a medical professional have learnt patience from some of my best patients. Time heals a lot.
“Have patience in all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself.” t. Francis de
Patience is what we lack nowadays, unfortunately. Young people are used to get things immediately, and when they will face some difficulty in the future, they will be easily demotivated and discouraged. We should teach our children to have patience and to be tolerant, because sun rises after the rain, and the day comes after the night.
Inspirational quote about Patience from Rumi:
“Patience does not mean to passively endure. It means to be farsighted enough to trust the end result of a process. It means to look at the thorn and see the rose, to look at the night and see the dawn.Impatience means to be shortsighted as to not able to see the outcome. The lovers of God never runs out of patience, for they know that time is needed for the crescent moon to become full.”
P.S.: Rumi (1207 – 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic
Patience is NOT the ability to wait, It is how you act while you wait!!
for the key to everything part, probably this one is the closest it could get - "Patience with others is Love, Patience with self is Hope, and Patience with God is Faith!
As it is said "A moment of patience in a moment of anger saves you a hundred moments of regrets!"

Patience is accepting that you need to wait for things ( e.g in a queue for a bus). It means you don’t have a control over things you want. Nowadays we don’t need to wait (be patient) for most things. In this era, less and less people wait in the queue for their turn. If there is a queue then nobody is waiting. Now if you can learn to wait, there lies the real power.
Among the many stories of patience in holy books, the story of Job is the prime example. He is the exemplar of a patient man. In Christian world it is refereed as patience of Job and in Islamic world as job’s patience (Ayoub). God tested Job's patience through loss of health and wealth, even extreme poverty as the story goes. But he did not waver and eventually God rewarded him for his patience according to the story. I would like to think the reward was not for his patience but his unwavering faith. The story wants us to believe good things comes to those who wait. I personally believe patience is power.
"Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you're waiting."~Joyce Meyer
Patience is to control yourself not to get angry when something or someone drives you crazy, patience is to work hard to achieve your dreams no matter how long it takes, patience is to give a chance to those who want to improve ( at work, at school, at home).
There might be some occasions in which we need instant action without reliance on patience. However, patience surely helps us to solve the problem in many kinds of occasions.
"Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience." —Ralph Waldo Emerson
"One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life." —Chinese Proverb
With respect Hazim Hashim Tahir,
On this occasion, let me try to add a little without any sense of overbearing, where patience is the fruit of sincerity, and sincerity itself actually comes from the conscience. Meanwhile, the essential truth of conscience will be there because we are most grateful. Of the three powers (patience, sincerity, and gratitude), then we can liquidate three insanities (psychiatric illnesses), namely: jealousy, envy, and envious. If all of that (get the power for annihilation) can be realized, then we can live with piety essentially.
May God bless you.
Patience is an abstract concept. So, we should not say that we "lose" our patience. The key to everything is to act acording to the social rules of one society. One can be patient and get no where if he does not go for his goals as he should. To be patient is a good characteristics for controlling one's suffering with anxiety, but it does not do much in others around the one who decides to be patient.
By nature I'm restless person......but being a researcher I realize that patience is everything....... Have patience for success...
What is a patience? Do you believe that "Patience is, The Key to Everything"? Can we have your opinion on this thread?
To me patience is a capability to tolerate suffering be it mistreatment, verbal attack, time delay by others without becoming furious or overreacted. Agreed patience is one of the important characters of human beings whereby other important characters include: love, joy, peace etc. as stated in the scripture below:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23
Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
---- Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Patience is not simply the ability to wait - it's how we behave while we're waiting.
---- Joyce Meyer
Patience is a virtue that can be cultivated and nurtured over time. You will be pleasantly surprised by how relaxation and peace of mind can impact the quality of your life.
Neither you nor anyone else wants to wait forever for something, but if you do accept that in many cases you will have to wait, having patience can help you endure the wait, feel better about yourself, and make you more pleasant to be around generally. Being impatient when events are not going as you had hoped will make you feel frustrated and angry. If you have no patience you may find yourself achieving short term goals, but will generally miss out on the long term ones.

Yes, patience is very good property. But it can not be infinite. We have to assess it by duration of a given situation (of our life) :-))
Dear all
Patience is a kind of no choice, a kind of suffering waiting training. Yesterday I have waited in a bank for more than an hour. I looked for help from the manager. But the manager told me that “I am sorry. You have to wait” again and again patiently. Other customers who are waiting looked strangely on my impatient behavior.
Maybe I have to training myself for the virtue—patience. I really appreciate the manager’s patience.
Dear Colleagues,
Good Day,
The most patient people in the world are the dedicated inventors/ scientists. Here is a short story of the time spent for inventing the final version of Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries. Department of Energy (USA) started the project in 1976 and finished in 2007-2009. They used these batteries in the Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

Dear Colleagues,
Good Day,
Even some of the Trees have "patient", as "Molière" said:
“Trees that are slow to grow bear the best fruit.”
Never cut a tree down in the wintertime.
Never make a negative decision in the low time.
Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods.
Wait.
Be patient.
The storm will pass.
The spring will come.

Very good posts and advice. I just add what I have learned:
"(The end of a matter is better than its beginning); a patient spirit is better than a proud spirit." Here, patience is a fruit from humility, knowing that we are dust, and our physical selves return to the earth as dust, to be recycled...Thanks.

Dear Hazim,
Patience came! This is an interesting superstition on sneezing in Persian culture:
When someone sneezes, Iranians say sabr amad, (meaning: patience came). So say that you are just about to go out when suddenly you or someone else sneezes. You say sabr amad, and then you have to wait a couple of minutes before leaving. Because the sneeze brings patience, it's thought that this little bit of waiting will prevent a bad event.
Perhaps this most commonly believed superstition is that of sneezing.

Dear Hazim Hashim Tahir,
Patience - the ability to remain calm in adversity, or waiting for the result from uncontrolled process.
Patience has many synonyms such as:
the benefit of patience,
longsuffering,
a lot of patience,
long-suffering,
condescension,
tolerance.
"In a conversation millionaire asked: - What is your best character property helped you to earn millions?
Without thinking, he said: - Patience!
The interviewee said: - But, patience is not always effective, for example, to carry water in a sieve impossible and patience as does not be able to help.
Millionaire replied with a smile: - live to see the winter and will be wearing! "

Patience, for me, means to be in revolt; is to know the right time to catch your true inner wish, defeating either your inner demons or envy. I love very much the way Elizabeth Bishop expresses it in her famous poem:
PATIENCE OF AN ANGEL
You can beat me, beat me! beat me, said the demon who
stood near the stoup of holy water, but you cannot destroy
me. I am the rebel angel but I am an angel and my face
that you so often mar bears at least the trace of one virtue:
patience. You can beat me! beat me! My time will come.
It may be true many times. Patience but with right actions can bring success
In RG Q/A, patience means reading all responses before answering. In this question, Rumi's quotes is repeated 2 times and Joyce Meyer's quote is repeated 3 times already!. More patience please :)
"Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they.”
~ Leonardo da Vinci
To have the patience and ability to wait quietly is considered a good quality among men. Evidence of this value is apparent in delicate, time-consuming works of art, such as bead work, quill work, or sand painting. Patience might not be valued by others who may have been taught "never to allow grass to grow under one’s feet."
Patience is one of the first things one must develop while facing adversity. Realising the fact that in the end everything will work out the way it is intended to and that there is a time frame for everything is the key for developing patience.
Dear Colleagues,
Good Day,
Here are some "Chinese proverbs" about "patience":
“A moment of patience can prevent a great disaster and a moment of impatience can ruin a whole life. “
“If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape one hundred days of sorrow.”
All parents should know that: "He who knows patience knows peace."
Patience is having sufficient time-series data of good quality, enough to make predictions and forecasting. Then, when you obtain your forecast, you just sit and wait, and this you can call it patience.
But as always, unpredictable events cause the end of what we call patience and constitute the start of a new phase where take in the new data and analyze them better, in order to improve your forecast, and go into the patience phase again. Also, between the patience periods of your life you should work on improving your position, so that patience is no longer as much needed!
Patience is watching the paint to dry,
Patience is waiting for children not to cry
Patience is waiting for your hair to grow
Patience is not looking the last page to see how the story end.
Dear Hazim
What is a patience?
- Patience should be the key character of all human beings
- Patience prevents you from making grave mistakes
- Patience precludes you from making bad decisions
Do you believe that "Patience is, The Key to Everything"?
Not totally,
- we could be patient in reaching success because for every successes there are processes
- but never be patient when seeing some injustices are done openly, especially
For every deeds, there are always pros and cons. It is up to us to choose wisely whether any character - patience or otherwise is put into the right perspectives.

Why Practice Patience?
Others often see impatient people as arrogant, insensitive, and impulsive. They can be viewed as poor decision makers, because they make quick judgments or interrupt people. Some people will even avoid impatient people, because of their poor people skills and bad tempers.
People with these personality traits are unlikely to be at the top of the list for promotions to leadership positions. Impatience can even affect relationships at home.
The more patient you are with others, the likelier you are to be viewed positively by your peers and your managers, not to mention your family and friends.

Dear Colleagues,
Good Day,
What are the reasons for losing patience in the workplace?
There are many situations at the workplace that can cause people to lose their patience. There is no need to enumerate them, just look at your average workday, and you will find many occasions, where you, or someone else at work, lost his or her patience.
Losing patience causes anger and unhappiness and harms relationships. This might also make you say and do things that you would regret about later.
You might also lose promotion opportunities if you are quick to lose your patience with people, colleagues or customers.

"How You Can Practice Patience at Work, John Kyle, June 30, 2014
........ Practicing Patience at Work
Our sin and brokenness prevents us from experiencing a perfectly harmonious balance of patience and urgency. Yet we are called to pursue it as much as we can – for God’s glory and for the good of those around us.
Here are three things you can do to demonstrate patience with your colleagues:
Please, see the link for more detail....
https://tifwe.org/how-you-can-practice-patience-at-work/
Patience is basically a virtue. Keeping our cool even during stressful situation with out complaining. Of course, very difficult to practice ( easier said than done !!). But for a moment we slip into impatience..... what happens? we act mindlessly. We show our anger, anguish, disgust in continuum relentlessly, wrathfully annoying others. In the melee, we become unworthy. Because , certain bad effects are irreversible!!
Patience will always lead to mindful acts. We act keeping the aftermath effects in mind. Therefore, patience yields good fruits. More than any thing, it adds incredible dimension to our personality.
Patience used to show the human character. It is one one of the best quality a person contain.
Patience is the support of weakness; Impatience the ruin of strength. Charles Caleb Colton
With patience, good results or frution which is always delayed. Impatience brings quick results in disaster!!!
No one can occupy your generosity except you. Who can occupy your patience when impatience roars through you? Who except you can choose not to act with judgment when all of your thoughts are judgmental? Your life is yours to live, no matter how you choose to live it. When you do not think about how you intend to live it, it lives you.
--- Gary Zukav
Patience is the support of weakness; impatience the ruin of strength.
--- Charles Caleb Colton
Perhaps there is only one cardinal sin: impatience. Because of impatience we were driven out of Paradise, because of impatience we cannot return.
--- W. H. Auden
I have the impression that patience means waiting for God's will, as we wait for things to come to us. It is very passive and conservative.
I prefer "impatience" and "action" where the human will comes to the fore and we actually go and work for what we want. I prefer to act.
I believe that patience is extremely overrated. The world will not change by itself. It is our duty to act and change it.
Best regards, Lilliana

Dear all
Patience is a passive attitude. Problem will not be solved by itself. Waiting others to act is not a responsible person. For some infectious disease just like HIV Infection spreading, only acting can stop the spreading. (In the year 1990, only 3 infected persons in my country)
Hi Liu,
I am an impatient man, but sometimes sing in praise of people who are patient.. If I want something I want it now; an hour later won't do. Most people opined here seems to believe patience is virtue. I am wondering why.
Little by little, through patience and repeated effort, the mind becomes stilled in the Self. If we examine our self as a part of nature we will realize that even nature creates change very slowly and is extremely patient..
:"Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience" - and that patience can improve life and bring it closer to perfection - if you understand nature and work with it patiently" -.Ralph Waldo Emerson
