I would be grateful if you could suggest highly informative markers, which indicate tumor cell migration and invasive front in breast tumors. I found the following ones: CK14, Mena, Fascin etc.; however, their expression is heterogeneous in breast tumors.

Tumor cells tend to show EMT phenotype change at the invasive front, so that it is recommended to perform IHC with antibodies against CD44v8-10 (epithelial) and pan-CD44 (mesenchymal). As I have previously reported, breast cancer stem-like cells at the invasive front tend to exhibit collective cell migration, which means that breast epithelial tumor cells (luminal type) does not necessarily undergo EMT before the dissociation from the primary site. Instead, oxidative stress-induced Wnt activation induced the enrichment of CD44v8-10-positive cancer stem-like cells at the invasive front of the gastric and breast tissues.
